Alkyd resins are based on the condensation of polyols with organic acids and natural oils or fatty acids. Depending on the oil content (short-, medium-, or long-oil) and drying mechanism (air-drying, oxidative curing or stoving), a wide range of requirements in terms of gloss, hardness and drying time can be met.
